Race for Life 2014

Today, 22nd June 2014 i ran my second Race For Life in memory of my Grandpa. There are so many things that i wish to say about this event and the cause, all of which drive me to want to raise as much money as i can to help the Cancer research guys do further research into the disease and eventually find cures for all 200 plus cancers.

Last year, i decided to do Race For Life as i knew people who had done it and they all had said what an amazing experience it is, and i was aware of my Grandpas condition.

The atmosphere is indescribable, its one which makes you want to cheer and woop with a tissue in your hand. There are thousands of girls and women who all have a common goal- to kick Cancers ass. Everyone is supportive of one another despite being total strangers, it brings people together in a way no other event can. If someone had a loose shoe lace, someone would let them know, if someone looked exhausted someone would offer them some of their drink - everyone is united and are creating such a huge force that Cancer wouldn't dare mess with.  There was people who had come to the last kilometre to clap and cheer everyone on, even people they werent there to support, everyone felt the encouragement and when you pass the finish line you are made to feel like you have achieved something incredible and priceless, because all 1913 women who ran today did just that.
As the host or commentator said, if everyone there had raised just £10 then we would have raised £19,130, which is AMAZING!

Sadly last year, 2 hours after i had completed Race For Life my grandpa passed away suddenly of the disease. The anniversary of his death is tomorrow on the 23rd, and i really hope ive made him proud this year by beating my race time(by 3 minutes but hey, its better;)) and raising money for a cause he also worked really close with.

Here are some of the pictures i took, i love the fact it was really sunny, although it made it harder to run, it made the atmosphere even more amazing.
